Specifically designed for use in seat back cushions, plush fill consists of loose, polyfiber filler (direct fill) wrapped in a 2oz layer of synthetic polyfiber batting (Dacron wrap). The addition of a 1-inch thick Dacron wrap overlay offers an intermediate level of cushion firmness - improving the structure of cushions that are fabricated solely with direct fill, but offering slightly less support than a cushion tailored with CumuPlush or foam. The forward-thinking combination of polyfiber filler and polyfiber batting creates a lightweight internal core that doesn't retain water and is mildew resistant. For this reason, plush fill is an ideal solution to a number of cushion applications (indoor and outdoor) which may be subjected to damp conditions or that require a softer, luxurious back cushion that one can "sink into" without subsequent loss of resiliency.
With the addition of the plush fill option, Cushion Source now offers consumers a choice of different filling types for back and seat cushions. This simply gives customers an alternate option in choosing a firm seat cushion (CumuPlush or foam) with a moderately less firm back cushion (plush fill). The indoor/outdoor plush filling creates a reinforced buffer and medium level of firmness for back cushions that could otherwise be seen as extra firm when tailored with the CumuPlush or foam filling options (See Table below). The insertion of the polyfiber Dacron batting helps to fill in and round out edges, provides increased softness and support and maintains the high-loft characteristics of direct fill cushions.
Because of its water- and mildew-resistant properties, plush fill is a great choice for use in back cushions designed for outdoor sofas, deep seating furniture and wicker furniture cushions. This fill type may also be used indoors for all types of chair, loveseat and sofa back cushions. Since the two inner components of plush fill (direct fill + Dacron batting) are both material forms derived from polyester cumulus fibers, these filling parts maintain identical qualities as our CumuPlush brand cumulus. Consequently, plush filling is free from volatile chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), certified for safe use in upholstered furniture and meets similar flammability codes as direct fill and CumuPlush - including some of the same identical properties:
